Service and sisterhood have been cornerstones of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. Mu Upsilon Omega brings the administration’s six initiatives to life through focused programs in Gainesville and Alachua County.
Strengthen Our Sisterhood serves as the foundation initiative, supporting the bonds that make the chapter’s service mission possible. Five additional initiatives focus that collective strength on families, economic opportunity, the environment, social justice, and local community impact.

YLI is a youth-led, highly interactive development program for ages 11–13. Through workshops, youth-led meetings, committee leadership, and decision-making, participants strengthen leadership and social skills while completing community service, environmental, and presentation projects.
Chapter members provide focused leadership for each initiative and its local programs.
